Comments: The Captain Rice was originally introduced to wholesalers on February 25th 1930 as the "Floyd Bennett" which according to early Hamilton records, was named after "One of America's outstanding air pioneers." On April 9th of the same year, the Floyd Bennett was renamed the "Captain Rice." There are no existing records indicating why Hamilton changed the name.

The Captain Rice was introduced the same year as the Glenn Curtiss, both were named after famous pilots, both were sold with Hamilton's high grade 19-jewel 979 movement and both utilized handmade cases manufactured by the Perrin Watch Case Company.

The Captain Rice is an extraordinarily rare and desirable Hamilton. It sold for $150.00, Hamilton's most expensive offering in 1930 and a price few could afford during the Great Depression.
