Comments: This very rare Cushion Engraved is the only one known to exist.  It is interesting to note that the engraving is on the center case and not on the bezel.  Later "Plain" and "Engraved" model variations were designated depending on if the bezel was "plain" or "engraved."  There are no known Hamilton Cushion's with engraved bezels.

It is interesting to note that the "four petal flower" engraving located on this example is unlike any other engraving Hamilton used - typically, engravings were in the form of leafs, vines or geometrical patterns, not flowers as this example has.   The Cushion Engraved is also, the first example of an engraved model Hamilton produced.  You can see a close up of the engraving by moving your mouse over the Cushion picture above.

The Cushion Engraved did not appear in any Hamilton catalogs and was made for only one year, 1926.  Early Hamilton records state that  all Cushion Engraved examples contained Hamilton's 17-jewel 987 movement.

This model was one of six geometrically shaped wristwatches that were popular up until the late 1920's.  Hamilton's "Geometric" offerings spanned ten years - beginning in 1917 with the 0-sized Cushion and ending in 1927 with the Oval.  Included in the geometric models are the Cushion (0-sized, Cushion Round and Cushion Form Opening), the Square, Barrel, Tonneau, Rectangular, and Oval.
