Comments: The Whitney's three tiered barrel shape is unique to Hamilton and is considered a classic Hamilton design. As popular as this Depression-era watch is with collectors today, the Whitney was not a particularly popular model when introduced and subsequently, only 7,145 examples were produced in its two variations - 14K yellow and white gold filled.
Marketed as a watch that was equally as presentable on the golf course as it was in the board room, early Hamilton ads promoted the Whitney in sophisticated surroundings.
The Whitney was named after Eli Whitney, the inventor of the cotton gin.
