Comments: The Donavan was offered as one of a new series of 14K solid gold Hamilton's containing the newly introduced 982 19-jewel movement. This new design series was constructed "curved to fit the wrist." All first generation 982 solid gold Hamilton's are scarce and the Donavan is no exception - it is the scarcest model of the "curved to fit the wrist" series.
The Donavan only appears in the 1935 Hamilton catalog and apparently, was not popularly received. Like the Winslow which was also introduced in 1935, the Donavan used a leather cord strap and looped gold lugs which may have been considered feminine at the time, subsequently adding to this models unpopularity.
Interestingly, the Wayne and the Donovan share the same case manufacturer and both cases share many of the same case design features.
The Donavan was offered in 14K yellow gold only.
